Why make furniture out of PVC?

PVC cabinets are the perfect solution for spaces exposed to humidity, such as kitchens and bathrooms. They are 100% water resistant, they do not attract insects,, nor do they generate mold! In addition, they require little maintenance: only a damp cloth to clean them. Scratch-resistant and cheaper than wood, they offer modern designs in multiple colors and finishes. Ideal for homes, restaurants or clinics. Durability, style and practicality in a single material.

PVC cabinets: Advantages over traditional materials

PVC cabinets offer several advantages over those made with traditional materials such as wood, MDF or chipboard (commonly called particle board), which makes them a popular option for kitchens, bathrooms and modern commercial spaces. Here are the reasons why they are often considered superior in certain contexts:

1. Water and moisture resistance

PVC is 100% waterproof, unlike wood or MDF, which can swell, deform or rot with moisture or spills. Ideal for bathrooms, laundries and kitchens.

It doesn't generate fungi.

2. Durability and long service life

Resistant to scratches, dents and termites (a common problem in wood).

3. Low maintenance

Easy cleaning (just wipe with a damp cloth; no need to be polished or sealed).

It does not absorb liquids (such as oil or wine), unlike porous materials such as wood.

4. Light but resistant

Easier to install and handle than heavy wooden or metal cabinets.

They can be reinforced with structures for greater strength.

5. Economic

Generally cheaper than solid wood or premium materials, with a similar aesthetic finish.

Long-term savings due to its high durability and few repairs.

6. Design versatility

When they are laminated, they are available in multiple colors, finishes (glossy, matte) and styles (even textures that imitate wood).

They allow modern designs without visible joints.

7. Hygienic

Non-porous surface that prevents bacterial growth, ideal for hospitals, laboratories or food handling areas.

Limitations (to be objective):

They are not as resistant as solid wood for heavy loads (e.g. large stone stops), in these cases they must be reinforced.

Less "premium" feeling than natural wood (although high-gloss finishes can imitate luxury).

Best uses:

Areas with high humidity (bath, kitchen).

Modern and minimalist kitchens.

Commercial spaces (restaurants, clinics).

For traditionalists, wood remains unsurpassed for its warmth and authenticity, but PVC stands out in practicality, especially where humidity, maintenance or budget matter.
